Magnuson Park Baseball Field

D.A. Hogan & Associates was the Athletic Fields consultant to The Berger Partnership and Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation for the Sand Point - Magnuson Park Improvement Project, a major step in the multiple-phase conversion of the Sand Point Naval Air Station into a public park. Our contributions to the project included Preliminary Design & Construction Phase drawing preparation for five (5) fields including two (2) synthetic turf Soccer/Ultimate Fields, one (1) synthetic turf Rugby/Ultimate Field, one (1) Baseball Field and one (1) Little League Baseball / Fast Pitch Softball Field, each with a synthetic turf infield and sand-based natural grass outfield. D.A. Hogan provided Field Layout, grading, and drainage systems for all field surfaces in coordination with the project landscape architects, and civil and environmental engineers as stormwater discharge from the fields contributed significantly to the seasonal hydrology of a new wetland constructed as a major feature of the project. For all natural grass surfaces, Root Zone Sand profile and automatic irrigation systems were provided. D.A. Hogan & Associates designed ball control fencing and backstops associated with the fields as well. D.A. Hogan & Associates provided significant Construction Inspection and Quality Control support on the scope described.
