Oregon State University - Prothro Field
D.A. Hogan was the prime consultant for the Prothro Field conversion for Oregon State University. Prothro Field is the primary outdoor practice facility for the Universities Division 1 Football program, including two full-sized football fields. The project converted 160,000sf of existing grass surface to a vertically draining, infilled synthetic turf surface including cement treated subgrade, new subsurface drainage and washwater systems, permeable aggregate base and containment, and infilled synthetic turf surfacing, as well as a new IESNA Level II field lighting system. The new surface was carefully designed to fit within four existing developed boundaries including buildings, roads, and walkways through careful grading design and new walls and ornamental fencing and masonry. Operable ball control netting contains licking practice within the site.
Tommy Prothro Football Complex is used primarily by the football team, followed by OSU’s other intercollegiate teams including men’s and woman’s soccer, baseball, and softball. The conversion allows for extended use of the field, and more practice space with the ability to be outdoors more often.
