Bellingham Civic Stadium
The existing heavily worn natural turf field was replaced with an infilled synthetic turf football and soccer field. The field was installed over a permeable crushed stone base with a subsurface drainage system.
The running track surface was resurfaced with a new polyurethane base matt and structural spray system over the existing asphalt base. The running track included an interior trench drain that functioned as an anchoring device for the synthetic turf.
The soil material excavated from the field area was used as fill north of the track to provide a level field event area for pole vault, long jump, and javelin runways. It also provides a grass landing area for discus and javelin.
Bellingham Civic Stadium is a Parks Department facility that functions as the central stadium for the Bellingham School District and Western Washington University.
